What is an SSA?
Special Services Areas (or SSAs) are local tax districts that fund expanded services and programs through a localized property tax levy within contiguous areas. The enhanced services and programs go above and beyond services currently provided through the City. There are currently approximately 55 SSAs in the City of Chicago. You can learn more about the SSA program on the City of Chicago’s website and find a list of Chicago’s active Special Service Areas.
