“Here we goat again! Let’s continue to make Edgewater such a pet-rific place to live by helping neighbors in need and their furry companions.” – Pax the Goat, 2020 Edgewater Pet Mayor
We introduced our first Annual Pet Mayor Campaign last summer. That election raised $20,000 for the Care for Real Pet Pantry, which assists individuals and families by providing the food and products necessary to properly care for their pets. This year, we are postponing the election and our Pet Mayor and ambassadors will serve another year. They will be supporting Care for Real with an online Whistle Stop Tour promoting their Virtual Pet Food Drive with the goal of raising $5,000. Donations can be made HERE.
“Together we hope to ensure all of Edgewater’s pet companions are well fed and cared for. Let’s come together to help keep pets with their families through times of hardship!” says Kate Polger, Development Manager for Care For Real. Raising $5,000 would fund the Pet Pantry for the remainder of 2020, including service increases due to the pandemic.
Through September 14th folks can donate funds that will go toward food and products needed to be happy and healthy. Please join our Pet Mayor and friends in supporting this wonderful program. Your donation goes a long way! A $6 donation can feed a pet for a week and $72 can feed an animal in need for a whole year!

The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce actively works with local businesses and community leaders within the neighborhood to enhance a pet’s (and their pet parent’s) lifestyle. You’ll find fun-filled activities throughout the year to help promote pet-friendly initiatives throughout our community.
Edgewater has a beautiful lakefront to walk your pet, a beach for your pet to play, a large fenced in dog park on Bryn Mawr and the lake, and several pet-related businesses to help care for your pet. There’s even free poop bags at three pet-friendly parks!

The Edgewater Chamber’s summer festival, EdgeFest, embraces the community’s pro-pet attitude. Since 2017 we have held an annual Pet Parade and pet activities during the festival weekend to cheer on our pet residents and their human companions. Everyone is welcome to participate in these scheduled activities throughout the two-day event.
