Edgewater 5k Run/ 1mi Walk

Celebrate our community and support our schools at Edgewater’s annual lakefront run!

Join us for the annual Edgewater 5k Run/1mi Walk, the only race course that includes Sheridan Road and the lakefront path! The Edgewater 5k raises money for all schools in the 48th Ward, both private and public.  Your investment in today’s students is an investment in the future, as  many of the 48th Ward graduates stay in the community. Since the race began in 2014 we have raised $15,000 for 48th Ward schools.

About the course:

Last year the race route began at Loyola University’s new St. Ignatius Community Plaza at Rosemont and Kenmore and headed east to Sheridan Road. From there the runners ran south in a rare opportunity to run in the street. The athletes were dwarfed by the towering lakefront high rise buildings! Then the runners went east at Ardmore to the northernmost part of the scenic lakefront path, headed south past Kathy Osterman Beach. Rounding the corner near the Foster Beach concessions, the route meandered along the lakefront before turning around and  continued through the park. And finally they ran north on Sheridan Road with the finish line on Rosemont.
